Help make a difference in the lives of older adults! Volunteers needed to help at Oakwood Village University Woods Retirement Community in the University Woods independent living apartments dining room for Sunday dinner, and Tabor Oaks assisted living or Hebron Oaks skilled nursing care facility dining rooms for breakfast, lunch or dinner once a week Sundays through Saturdays to provide a quality dining experience for residents. Volunteers will assist the Dining Services staff with meeting and greeting residents as they come in to the dining room for meal time, serving and refilling beverages, plus other assistance as requested by Dining Services staff. Volunteers are needed to help for breakfast at 7:30-9:00 a.m., for lunch at 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., or dinner at 4:30-6:00 p.m. This is an enjoyable opportunity for socialization with a variety of residents during meal times.

This assistance is greatly needed for the residents and Dining Services staff to ensure residents have a quality dining experience during meal time. People will be required to volunteer a minimum of 3 months and go through the Oakwood volunteer registration/orientation process to be considered for placement.

Interested persons need to go through Oakwood Village's registration and orientation process, and make a minimum 3 month commitment, to be considered for placement. Additional training provided as needed upon placement. Volunteer needs ability to carry and pour coffee pots, and fill and carry individual carafes of hot water for tea/hot chocolate. Volunteers also need to have good social skills in being pleasant, courteous and respectful in working with residents and staff during meal time, and have good communication and hearing skills.
