Volunteer drivers are needed to take Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge independent living or assisted living residents, and Oakwood Village University Woods independent living residents to medical appointments (doctor or dentist) once a week, Monday-Friday, morning or afternoon. Volunteer drivers are scheduled in advance and will have flexibility based on availability. Volunteer drivers need to use their own vehicles and can receive mileage reimbursement. More volunteer drivers are greatly needed to ensure the residents' needs are met for getting to their medical appointments. People who would like to become a volunteer driver will be required to volunteer a minimum of 6 months and go through Oakwood's registration process to be considered for placement.
Interested persons need to go through Oakwood Village's registration and orientation process, and make a 6 month or longer ongoing commitment, to be considered for placement. Drivers are required to use their own automobile, have a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance. Copies of volunteer applicant's driver's license and automobile insurance policy need to be provided to Volunteer Services Coordinator. Background and driver records checks required for applicants prior to placement. Good social and organizational skills, plus familiarity with Madison area, are needed.
